If you haven’t heard already, Joylab is in the business of bringing people together for joy. We’ve found that a long lunch is a perfect reason to round up your colleagues, mates, families and clans for a good time and a good cause.

In 2017, we ran a long lunch fundraiser for local charity Big Buddy New Zealand. It was an afternoon of bloody good tucker, refreshing drops, and gracious giving. Thanks to the support of everyone who made it (and even those who didn’t), we managed to raise $63,000 for Big Buddy.

Over the course of a year (no pun intended), we’ll host many long lunches to help our communities. The Flying Moa has nearly raised $100,000 for St John’s Ambulance over the past 10 years thanks to the legends that have contributed so far - a sizeable chunk that helps St Johns care for our lives when we need it most.

In fact, in 2018 The Merchant hosted a long lunch that raised $95,000 in one afternoon towards Race 4 Life - a new record for a Joylab establishment and an astonishing sum for a single day of fundraising, only to be followed by an incredible $90,000 raised in 2019 for the same event.
